Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
