Brian Eno Urges Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
