The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in the state of California aged 55.
The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.
The influential industry figure died after his car crashed and burst into flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This is an unimaginable loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
